The narrative of Himalayan salt traces back over 500 million years to the ancient Precambrian era. During this distant period an inland sea gradually evaporated ultimately leaving behind vast deposits of mineral salt.
We Are Miners
The Khewra Salt Mine also known as Mayo Salt Mine, is the world’s second largest salt mine, located in Khewra, Punjab, Pakistan. The mine is in the Salt Range of the Potohar plateau, which rises from the Indus plain of the Punjab.
Product Lineup
Himalayan salt is sourced from the Salt Range mountains, situated at the southern fringes of a fold-and-thrust belt that lies beneath the Pothohar Plateau in southern Pakistan, just south of the majestic Himalayas. This unique salt comes from a substantial layer of Ediacaran to early Cambrian evaporites known as the Salt Range Formation.
The geological composition of the Salt Range Formation is characterized by crystalline halite, interspersed with potash salts. This layer is further overlaid by gypsiferous marl and interwoven with strata of gypsum and dolomite, occasionally containing seams of oil shale. These sedimentary deposits have accumulated over an astonishing span of time, dating back approximately 500 million years ago.
The remarkable geological history doesn’t end there. These ancient strata, along with subsequent Cambrian to Eocene sedimentary rocks, have undergone tectonic forces that thrust them southward over younger sedimentary layers, shaping and sculpting the Salt Range as we know it today through the process of erosion.
We specialize in manufacturing a diverse array of industrial-grade salts tailored to serve key sectors in Pakistan and overseas markets. Our clientele spans across significant industries, including the Chlor Alkali industry, Pharmaceuticals, Textile Dyeing, Leather processing, oil drilling and petrochemicals industry among others.
Himalayan Pink Edible salt is a rear and precious product consists of 84 minerals, an elemental seasoning present in virtually every kitchen worldwide, holds a fundamental place in the realm of culinary arts. Himalayan Salt, often referred to as “Pink Gold,” is a rare and precious mineral resource mined from the heart of the Himalayan mountain range. This exquisite salt is renowned for its stunning pink hue, a result of the trace minerals it contains, including iron, potassium and magnesium.
Crystal edible salt, also known as rock salt or mineral salt, is a remarkable and ancient treasure extracted from deep within the earth’s crust. This pristine, unprocessed salt is celebrated not only for its exceptional purity but also for its rich mineral composition and potential health benefits. Here, we delve into the world of crystal salt and explore its significance.
Minerals Composition
Himalayan salt is classified as a type of table salt. Upon analyzing several samples from the Khewra salt mines, it has been found that these salts typically contain sodium chloride levels ranging from 96% to 99%. Additionally, they exhibit trace amounts of various elements such as calcium, iron, zinc, chromium, magnesium and sulfate. Importantly, these trace elements are present in safe quantities, all remaining below 1%.
It is noteworthy that not all salt mined in Pakistan is suitable for immediate use, whether in the food industry or for industrial purposes due to the presence of impurities. The quality and purity of the salt can vary significantly. Some salt crystals from this region appear off-white or transparent while in certain veins, the presence of trace minerals imparts a distinctive pink, reddish or even beet red hue to the salt.
